Atlantean Mermail Deck Link Format 2017

Since 2013, Mermail and Atlantean become so popular because with these two Archetype we can make a very strong board, even become Meta deck. And when comes to Link Era, this combination of two Archetype can still survive the new rule, because this deck doesn't really need Extra Deck Monster to make a good board. Many duelist combining Atlantean-Mermail with other Water card like Frog, but this time I'll combine Atlantean-Mermail with Nimble.

About Atlantean, Mermail, and Nimble Archetype

Atlantean is an archetype of Water Sea-Serpent Monsters. This Atlantean desire to conquer land and sea, then they began an attack to tropical island of Fire King. However, they resisted the attacks, dragging the war to a standstill. As a way to win their battle, the Atlanteans sought the Mermails, who had lost their home. With this background story we know why combination of these two Archetype are so good. Mermail is an archetype of Water Fish, Sea-Serpent, and Aqua monsters. High level Mermail can be special summoned by discarding a number of Water cards. This is why Mermail and Atlantean make such a good harmony, because most Atlantean and Mermail monster will do something if send to graveyard by Water monster effect.

Nimble is and archetype of Level 2 Earth and Water monsters (except level 4 Super-Nimble Mega Hamster). All Nimble monster has ability to special summon other Nimble monster from deck. Because this archetype has Water monsters, some monster can be used in Atlantean-Mermail Deck.

Atlantean-Mermail Play-style

There are so many combo that we can use with Atlantean-Mermail, so you need practice before using this deck properly. The main strategy is adding cards with combination of Neptabyss and Dragoon, and summoning high level Mermail as soon as possible. Atlantean-Mermail Deck Tips and Combos

Combo #1

Cards needed : Neptabyss the Atlantean Prince, Nimble Angler, any WATER monster

Normal summon Neptabyss, the Atlantean Prince. Use its effect to send Atlantean Dragoon from deck to graveyard, then add any Atlantean monster to hand (except Neptabyss). Use Atlantean Dragoon's effect to add Mermail Abyssmegalo from deck to your hand. Discard one Atlantean monster and Nimble Angler to special summon Mermail Abyssmegalo. Use Mermail Abyssmegalo's effect to add Abyss-Scale of the Mizuchi then equip it to Mermail Abyssmegalo. Use Nimble Angler's effect to special summon two Nimble Sunfish from deck. Use both Nimble Sunfish to link summon Mermail Abyssalacia. You can also use Mermail Abyssmegalo's effect to tribute Neptabyss, then special summon Atlantean Dragoon from graveyard due to Neptabyss effect.

Combo #2

Cards needed : Neptabyss the Atlantean Prince, Atlantean Heavy Infantry, Mermail Abyssteus

Normal summon Atlantean Heavy Infantry. Use bonus normal summon to summon Neptabyss, the Atlantean Prince. Use its effect to send Atlantean Dragoon from deck to graveyard, then add other Atlantean Dragoon to your hand. Use Atlantean Dragoon's effect to add Mermail Abyssmegalo from deck to your hand. Discard Atlantean Dragoon then special summon Mermail Abyssteus. Use Atlantean Dragoon's effect to add another Mermail Abyssmegalo from deck. Use Mermail Abyssteus effect to add Mermail Abyssgunde from deck. Use Neptabyss and Heavy Infantry to link summon Mermail Abyssalacia. Discard Mermail Abyssmegalo and Mermail Abyssgunde to special summon Mermail Abyssmegalo. Use Mermail Abyssmegalo's effect to add Abyss-Scale of the Mizuchi then equip it to Mermail Abyssmegalo. Use Mermail Abyssgunde's effect to special summon Mermail Abyssmegalo from graveyard. You can also summon rank 7 XYZ monster if you want.

Tips #1

You can use Deep-Sea Diva or One for One to access Neptabyss, the Atlantean Prince. And of course Neptabyss, the Atlantean Prince is searchable via Atlantean Dragoon and Mermail Abyssalacia.

Tips #2

Always remember that you'll skip your next battle phase if your Moulinglacia the Elemental Lord is leaves the field.

Weakness

Just like other deck, this deck really needs graveyard. So gravekeeper and banish card effect become great weakness of this deck. This deck works great going second, so if you going first you'll be vulnerable because there is no defend in this deck. Maybe adding some trap will help this deck survive during first turn.

Another Card Recommendation

If you run this deck in real life you can replace Abyssalacia and Kyrios with Mistar Boy, also repalce Nimble Beaver with Nimble Manta. Moray of Greed is also good for reshuffle your cards, if you think that cards are not so good. Because most of monster are WATER, Aqua Spirit is a good addition. With Level 4 Aqua Spirit, you can also use Bahamut Shark so you can summon Toadally Awesome quickly.
